Notice: Please note that the ASC Induction Programme for students at Durham University will be in an online format for September 2020 due to uncertainty around circumstances associated with Covid-19. It is not what we had hoped for and understand that this may be disappointing for you. We still aim to provide a great deal of information about university life however, with opportunities to ask any questions and to meet other students. The sessions will occur during the week beginning 21st September. We will send out further details and instructions on how to book/join the sessions mid-August.
Durham University holds an Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC) Induction Program that is available to students who have autism. This is an established program aimed at providing an opportunity for students to familiarise themselves with the university ahead of the main induction week. The start of university can be daunting for young people at the best of times and can be even more challenging for individuals with autism. The ASC Induction Program provides an opportunity to settle into university life ahead of the main body of students returning. It is by no means compulsory and whether you attend is your choice. However, feedback has highlighted that many students have found it helpful, so it may be something you wish to consider.Full article
